County set to vote on flyover bridges plan

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Council is meeting Monday night to vote on the controversial flyover bridges proposal.

The bridges would connect the Bluffton Parkway to U.S. 278. Last week, the Hilton Head Town Council withdrew support for the project and a group of citizens launched a final effort to stop the construction.

Beaufort County's public facilities committee also voted to advance two contracts. The project is expected to cost no more than $45 million.
