Federal employees meet in Beaufort to discuss sequestration
BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -
The American Federation of Government Employees met in Beaufort Monday to discuss how sequestration will affect them and their families. A lot of upset folks were at the meeting. They say they cant afford a once a week furlough day for 22 weeks.
"My family will be very burdened. I'm taking a 25 percent pay cut so I'll have to make a decision on making a mortgage payment or paying for food. And I'm not going to spend any money locally in the economy. It is really going to impact me personally," said Larry Anderson, federal employee.
Congress and the White House have until Friday to stop the $85 billion in automatic spending cuts.
