Flooding, potholes cause headaches for businesses in Garden City

GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) -

On Tuesday, heavy rain caused some problems for businesses in Garden City.

Pot holes litter the roadway on Commerce Blvd. With the heavy rain and flooding, it made it very difficult for people to get down the stretch of roadway.

Crews have been putting gravel to patch the pot holes. With the amount of rain the area has seen over the past 24 hours, the owner of Custom Cabinets says they would usually see at least eight inches of water flooding their business. Thankfully the water did run off, but Chris Williamson says the patches may not hold for long.

"This morning, it had a lot of water on it, as usual," said Chris Williamson, owner of Custom Cabinets. "There have been times when the road was covered with water. Garden City was out here this morning with a back hoe spreading gravel, trying to fill in the pot holes the best they could."

Commerce Blvd. is scheduled for road repair and resurfacing in June.
