Some along the Ogeechee are happy about flooding

Posted: Updated:
EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Residents along the Ogeechee River in Effingham County say they haven't seen the water so high in years.

With all the rain, the river has been rising, and experts say it will rise another four to five inches over into the weekend.

"It's beautiful to see the river up and moving. It's been the lowest I've seen it over the last two years and it's a blessing to have all this rain for the river," Cliff Horton said.

Some roads were closed near the river because of flooding.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies closed Mt. Hope Road between Bolan and Tusculum Tuesday night because of flooding.
