Worth County Emergency Managers are using facebook to share information about road closures and flooding problems.
They created a Worth County E-911 page just Monday. It already has several hundred likes, and officials say it is playing a vital role in spreading important information quickly.
Worth County EMA Director Thomas Whittington said, "Social media has played a real big part in this. We have really gotten a lot of praise from the public because they can look at their cell phones and their ipads and their computers and say hey I'm in the meeting with them. They're telling me about the road closures."
Based on the comments posted on the page, folks in Worth County really appreciate the page. Emergency management officials say they will continue to use it from now on.
