The automatic spending cuts aren't ideal for anyone, but Larry Anderson says after March 1 he may have to decide if he's going to pay his mortgage, buy groceries, or pay his daughters college tuition.

Anderson is a married father of two. He said he and his wife spend nights in bed with the thought of being homeless on their minds. Anderson says it's an extreme thought, but it could happen.

"It's going to be a 25 percent pay cut so I'm looking at a huge cut to my pay," he said.

Anderson is a veteran. he works for the Department of Defense. The cuts require civilian workers for the Defense Department to take 22 furlough days, which will spread across more than five months.

"Federal employees continue to be the piggy bank for elected officials in Washington, and we need to stop that," said Anderson.

Republican State Senator Tom Davis supports the cuts and says it's time to control spending in Washington.

Congress has until Friday to make a decision, and Davis thinks they will vote for the cuts.
