BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -
Absentee voting locations open Thursday for South Carolina's District 1 Congressional race.
Sixteen GOP candidates are seeking the nomination along with two Democrats. The seat was held by Tim Scott, who is now a U.S. senator.
"If you come with the
old registration card and it don't have a picture and you have a valid excuse
as to why you haven't been able to have a picture made, then you will still be
allowed to vote, however we are moving towards having a picture ID for every
voter," said Ron Clifford, chairman of the Beaufort County Board of Election
and Registration.
Voters are required to bring ONE of these forms of photo identification to the polls:
South Carolina driver's license
Photo ID issued by the SC Dept. of Motor Vehicles
Voter registration card with photo
U.S. passport
Federal military ID
The precincts will be open Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Lowcountry absentee precinct locations:
- Beaufort absentee precinct, 15 John Galt Road, Beaufort, SC 29906
- Bluffton absentee precinct, 61-B Ulmer Road, Bluffton, SC 29910
