A man is recovering after being shot late Wednesday night during a traffic dispute that police said turned into road rage.
It started off as a simple traffic accident. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said two men driving a Mazda 626 clipped the front end of another car along West Boulevard in West Charlotte, and sped away from the scene. Police describe the damage as minor scratches.
Instead of calling police, the man whose car was hit chased the Mazda, until both cars pulled over on the railroad overpass bridge on Old Steele Creek Road around 11:30pm.
Police say when the victim went to confront the men in the Mazda, one of the people in the offending vehicle pulled a gun, and started shooting at the man.
The victim was struck by a bullet in the arm.
He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, but officers believe he should recover.
The gunmen fled the scene, and haven't been seen since.
