TATTNALL CO., GA (WTOC) -

WTOC spoke to emergency officials Thursday as crews were out assessing the condition of roads in Tattnall County.

They say that more than a dozen roads are still impassable as of Thursday evening. Once the water recedes, crews will begin filling in what has washed away.

They also say the Ohoopee River has already crested. They are expecting levels to return to normal by Sunday.

"It is going to take a couple of days. They are going to be out working this weekend. The river crested last night around 1 a.m. So, now we are in a holding stage. Hopefully early Sunday the river will start down. We will be losing a lot of this water we are having to worry with," said Walt Roger, Tattnall County EMA Director.

School has been cancelled in the county for the entire week.
