At Thursday's school board meeting, Jeffrey Moss was named the new superintendent of Beaufort County Schools.
Moss is currently the superintendent for Lee County School's in North Carolina. He's been there since 2009. Prior to that, he was the superintendent for Beaufort County Schools in North Carolina.
Moss was chosen over Gloria Davis, who is the superintendent of Decatur Public Schools in Illinois.
The board said the decision was very difficult because both candidates were excellent. But, Moss was their choice because of his strong commitment to technology and the history of academic improvements in the districts he has led.
Both Moss and Davis are both praised for helping their schools close the achievement gap and improving the graduation rates.
