LADY'S ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -
A checkpoint set up Wednesday night and conducted
by Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Unit on Lady's Island resulted
in six arrests.
The
checkpoint was held from 8 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at Lady's Island Drive and
Island Causeway.
Luke
Palmer, 57, of Lady's Island, was arrested on charges of possession of Crack
Cocaine. Frank Holmes, 29, of Port Royal, was arrested on charges of simple possession
of marijuana. Tamra Cocker, 27, of St. Helena, was arrested on charges of simple
possession of marijuana. Kianna Britton, 22, of Lady's Island, was arrested on
charges of simple possession of marijuana. Felicia Costa, 26, of St.
Helena, was arrested on charges of second offense driving under suspension. Jerry
White, 53, of Beaufort, was arrested on charges of third offense driving under suspension.
Two
warning tickets were issued for vehicle license offenses, and one citation
issued for open container of beer/wine, according to the sheriff's office.
During
the checkpoint, the unit also recovered a vehicle that was later reported
as stolen from Port Royal Police Dept.'s jurisdiction. The vehicle was
abandoned just before where the checkpoint was set up.
