More than 200 years ago, August 7, 1782, George Washington created one of the most prestigious military awards, the Purple Heart. Today the military gives it to soldiers wounded or killed in combat.
"It made me feel good that I did something for my country, that I did share blood for my country," said Purple Heart recipient Cpl. Demetrios X. Miltiades.
The Military Order of the Purple Heart will hold a special ceremony honoring the award and those who've received it, tomorrow, August 7, at 1pm at American Legion Post 184 in Thunderbolt.
