A local non-profit organization is offering up a great cookie for a great cause.
Union Mission will officially debut the Starfish Cafe's new line of Fortunate Cookies at 10 a.m. March 16 at the 2013 St. Patrick's Day Parade.
All proceeds directly benefit programs helping individuals in need at Union Mission and Starfish Cafe.
The Starfish Cafe will unveil the new line of cookies at a sidewalk station located on the corner of Liberty and Abercorn. The cost is a minimum donation of $1 per cookie.
Each cookie also includes one of 12 unique success stories of individuals Union Mission has helped get their lives back on track.
"The Fortunate Cookies are not only delicious, but they also help transform lives," said Chef Bryan McNamara, culinary arts program manager and chef at Starfish Cafe, in a press release. "This is an excellent opportunity for the Savannah community to support Union Mission and the Starfish Cafe at the St. Patrick's Day and throughout the year."
Fortunate Cookies will also be available at Starfish Cafe during regular business hours beginning March 18. The cafe is open from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
