Police investigate burglary at house where 13 year old was shot
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are investigating a burglary that took place at a house on Deerfield Road Friday. Authorities say it is the same house where a 13-year-old boy was shot in the jaw and should while sleeping on his grandmother's couch early Saturday morning. Police say someone fired shots at the house.
"He is a good student and he is a respectful young man who does the right thing. He takes care of his grandmother, cuts her grass. That is why he was here. We just don't know why this happened. Now, this is the second time this week we have had to call the police to this home and it just scares us," said Melanie Peoples, homeowner's daughter.
The teen's mother says he is doing well. Police do not know if the shooting and burglary are related.
