SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
People from around Savannnah gathered together to roast oysters for a good cause.
The Georgia Conservancy held their annual "Oyster Roast on the Coast" at Captain Butler's retreat on Whitemarsh Island on Saturday.
Folks from all around came to enjoy fresh caught oysters and clams, while enjoying some live music.
The money raised for this event will go to help keep the Georgia coast beautiful.
"The oysters are great and I think everybody is having a great time, but the main point of it is to celebrate the coast. And to remember how fortunate we are to have this beautiful 110 miles of georgia coast, it's something we all need to love and protect." said Pierre Howard, President of the Georgia Conservancy.
Last year about 250 people came to the roast, however this year there were upwards of 400 in attendance.
