HHI pizza shop owner arrested on drug charges

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

Aaron William Gessner, 31, of Hilton Head Island, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant for simple possession of marijuana, is now facing multiple additional drug charges after a search warrant was served at his place of employment.

Sheriff's deputies made contact with Gessner, the owner and operator of Bravo Pizza on Hilton Head Island, at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday. Authorities served Gessner with an outstanding warrant for simple possession of marijuana.

Deputies noticed the odor of freshly burnt marijuana while at the restaurant. A quantity of marijuana was located in the business officer during the course of an initial search. Members of the Drug Investigation Section responded and obtained a search warrant for the location.

As a result of the search warrant, authorities found additional quantities of marijuana, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, prescription pills and various drug paraphernalia leading to additional charges for Gessner.

Additional charges are pending the identification of the prescription pills and mushrooms that were recovered.

Gessner has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and two counts of simple possession of marijuana. Authorities seized approximately 47 grams of cocaine, approximately 106 grams of marijuana, approximately 9 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, 58 unidentified pills, scales, baggies, other paraphernalia, and $1,687 in US currency.
