Woman charged with credit card fraud

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

Beaufort County sheriff's deputies a woman accused of exploiting a vulnerable adult has turned herself in.

On Monday morning, Shamika Smart, 31, turned herself in to authorities. They said Smart stole credit cards from an 80-year-old woman living at the Hawthorne Inn. Surveillance video showed Smart, who was a med tech at Hawthorne Inn, and her aunt Fannette Housey, 51, using the cards.

The purchases total $10,000. Housey was arrested and charged with financial transaction card fraud. She has been released on bond.
