Day 6 of the Walk for American Red Cross started in Vidalia and finished in Uvalda. Robyn Banks of the Toombs County Sheriff's Office joined me for most of the stage. She also brought a donation from her co-workers. Along the way, we met several people who stopped us to make donations to the Red Cross disaster response teams. Connie Sowell included brownies with her donation.
Once inside the Montgomery County town of Uvalda, we wrapped up at Big Ma's Restaurant. Owner Susan Simpson gave credit to Red Cross volunteers like Kim Oglesby and others who work with victims of fire, flood and other emergencies.
FOR TUESDAY: The final day of the 2013 walk will begin Tuesday morning at 8am in Baxley in the Walmart parking lot. We'll travel the final 15 miles of the 96 mile journey to Hazlehurst and conclude in the Walmart parking lot.
