An investigation is under way after an early morning incident in downtown Savannah sends one man flat on his back out in the middle of the street.

An eyewitness reported seeing a man pushed out of a moving vehicle at the intersection of Jefferson and Anderson streets sometime after 1 a.m. Tuesday, but police say the man was holding on to the moving vehicle.

The victim, a man who police believe to be in his 40's, was taken to the hospital but there is no word on the extent of his injuries.

Jefferson Street had to be closed for a while overnight while investigators tried to determine what happened, but has since reopened and should not cause delays to the morning commute.
