Controlled burns under way at Fort Stewart

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

Two controlled burns are taking place on Tuesday at Fort Stewart.

The first controlled burn is 964 acres. Flames will be visible from GA Highway 119. The burn area is 15 miles north of Building 1 and 2.2 miles southeast of the Pembroke Fire Tower, according to the Fort Stewart Public Affairs office.

The second controlled burn is 1,373 acres. Flames will be visible from GA Highway 119. The burn area is 4.5 miles north-northwest of Building 1 and 2.5 miles northwest of Lawson Fire Tower, according to the Fort Stewart Public Affairs Office.
