SCREVEN CO., GA (WTOC) -
A public hearing is
taking place Tuesday with state regulators over King America Finishing's polluting
the Ogeechee River.
The hearing is to get public input to help the officials
with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division develop plans for penalizing
King America Finishing.
The EPD will review a $1 million consent order that
was drawn up in October to address deficiencies the EPD discovered at the Screven
County textile manufacturer shortly after the May 2011 fish kill that left 38,000
fish dead in the river.
The public hearing takes place at 7 p.m. at the Effingham
County High School in Springfield.
