The Georgia Public Service
Commission has approved a settlement between the state of Georgia and Atlanta Gas
Light Company.
The settlement came about after three separate
incidents of gas line being ruptured. Construction crews ruptured a gas line at
Whitfield Avenue and Diamond Causeway two days in a row, causing major traffic
problems.
The $50,000 settlement
will be split between the Georgia National Guard Foundation to help soldiers
with utility bills. The other half will go to Heat Inc., a non-profit that
helps low-income Georgians who have had their heat turned off.
