We finished the 2013 Walk for American Red Cross Tuesday, covering 96 miles, nine counties, 13 cities and towns in seven days.
A dozen Red Cross volunteers from Appling and Jeff Davis Counties joined at the start in Baxley Tuesday morning as we left for Hazlehurst. One walker, Rhonda Walsh, walked the entire 15 leg stage. Others took turns of a few miles at a time.
Waiting at the end in Hazlehurst were members of the police and fire department to welcome everyone across the "finish line" in the Walmart parking lot off U.S. Hwy. 341.
Proceeds from the day and from the week go to the Red Cross disaster response teams across Southeast Georgia.
Donation totals won't be final until the end of March. To donatie, visit the home page at www.wtoc.com and cliick on my poster.
A huge thanks to all who assisted over the week. It could not happen without the help of local Red Cross volunteers, business supporters and law enforcement who assisted with traffic.
