Effingham County detectives are asking for the public's assistance in locating a cross dresser who is using stolen checks.
Johnny Green, who authorities say dresses as a women, has been using stolen checks at various stores, including the Walmart in Effingham, the Walgreens in Garden City and a Target in Brunswick. Investigators say Green has an extensive criminal history with 18 arrests. He has served several sentences in prison for identity fraud and forgery.
"He or she is a pretty unique individual and obviously dresses as a female or a male. But more than likely has been dressed as a female that is doing these crimes," said Effingham County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer David Ehsanipoor. "We have a good picture of Johnny Green walking out of the Walgreens in Garden City and we are hoping somebody out there knows where this person is at this time and will please call us."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Effingham County Sheriff's Office. Green is facing charges of forgery and identity theft.
