SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

On Wednesday, crews responded to an early-morning wreck on Florance Street at W 40th Street in Savannah.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say a minivan was traveling the wrong way down Florance St. at 4:49 a.m. Wednesday when it slammed into a tree between W 40th St. and W 41st St., knocking off both of the left side doors and causing a substantial amount of damage to the front end of the vehicle.

The driver of the 2004 Nissan Quest minivan, Baheem Frazier, 20, is in serious condition at Memorial University Medical Center. The two passenger, Aliccia Cherry, 17 and Derrick Grantham, 16, are in stable condition.

Officials said they believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.

Florance Street was closed for several hours while SCMPD's Major Accident Investigations Team looked into the cause of the crash.

The wreck remains under investigation.
