United Way HandsOn Savannah seeks nominations

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

United Way HandsOn Savannah is accepting nominations of volunteers for its 34th annual Volunteer Recognition Awards. Nominate a notable person, adult group, child or youth group. 

Applications are available online at http://goo.gl/3xZ2D. Nominations must be received by March 15.

Nominate an outstanding individual or group for one of these awards:

  • Health and Human Services
  • Education
  • Environmental/Conservation
  • Cultural Arts/History
  • Animal Advocacy

A panel will select a winner who has demonstrated outstanding achievements. Nominees will be recognized in the Volunteer Recognition Awards program booklet with a short bio highlighting their accomplishments, according to the United Way.  

The award recipients will be announced during the Volunteer Recognition Awards Luncheon on April 24 at Savannah Station. They will receive engraved trophies honoring their contribution to the spirit of volunteerism.  An outstanding youth nominee will be awarded a $500 scholarship award.

The United Way Herschel V. Jenkins Volunteer of the Year Award will be selected from the winners from the award categories.

The winner will receive an engraved trophy, and the non-profit program for which the winner volunteers will be awarded $1,000.
