ATLANTA (WTOC) -

Georgia Southern's ROTC Eagle Battalion received high honors at the state capitol.

The cadets were recognized Tuesday by Gov. Nathan Deal and Statesboro lawmakers for winning the 2013 Ranger challenge.

The challenge tests physical endurance and mental agility. The two-day competition took place in January and included marksmanship, land navigation and a 13-mile course that tested their technical and tactical skills.

The Eagle Battalion will compete in the International Sandhurst competition at the U.S. Military Academy in April.
