Two controlled burns under way at Fort Stewart

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

Two controlled burns are under way Thursday at Fort Stewart.

The first is 615 acres. Flames will be visible from GA Highway 144 westbound. The burn area is 13 miles northwest of Building 1. and 1 mi west of Taylors Creek Fire Tower, according to the Fort Stewart Public Affairs Office.

The second controlled burn is 549 acres. Flames will not be visible from GA Highway 144 westbound. The burn area is 18 miles northwest of Building 1 and 4  miles northwest of Taylors Creek Fire Tower.
