Police nab suspected metal thief

BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

Over the past week, Bulloch County sheriff's deputies have responded to cell phone locations in Bulloch County for complaints of metal and wire being stolen from the tower.

Investigator D. Williams worked with local metal recyclers to locate portions of the metal and wire stolen from a tower administered by Alltel.

Samuel Adam Wells, 57, of Statesboro, was identified as the individual selling the metal and taken into custody by investigators. He has been charged with one count of damaging property of a public service provider, one count of criminal trespass, one count of criminal damage to property in the second degree and one count of felony theft by taking.

Wells is being held without bond at the Bulloch County Jail.
