ST. HELENA ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -
Candice Glover has been singing all her life. She started in her uncle's church on St. Helena Island.
Her cousin, Mike Brown, says he always new she had the gift, because her soul and personality are like no other.
"She was never afraid," said Brown.
This is Glover's third time trying out for American Idol. She made it to Hollywood the first two times, but this is her first time making it this far, which is why Glover and everyone who knows her believes she has a chance to become the next American Idol.
"She thinks this is her time, and I tell her I think it is too," said Brown.
Just a few months ago, Glover was booking excursions for Fripp Island. Her coworkers say they knew she wouldn't be there long, because her voice is just that good.
The dream is alive in Glover. Brown says, if she doesn't win this time, he's not going to let her give up because she's meant to have her name in lights.
"Got to keep pushing her, keep pushing her. Pushing her to do better," said Brown.
