SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Evans County's biggest weekend of the year is underway.
Saturday morning the 46th Annual Claxton Rattlesnake and Wildlife Parade stepped off.
Many people lined the streets of Claxton, and many more watched it live on WTOC. Crowds also flocked to the festival grounds to check out all kinds of animals, including the snakes.
Organizers say the support they get here goes back into the community.
"For such a small hamlet in South Georgia, we get as much money as we can back into our community." said Keith Barnard, Evans Co. Wildlife Club.
The wildlife club funds local scholarships as well as donations to dozens of local charities.
The Rattlesnake and Wildlife Festival continues on Sunday.
