AASU selected for drug drop-off program

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Armstrong Atlantic State University has been selected to be the prescription drug drop-off location for the Savannah area.

The Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) selected the Armstrong Police Department to be the home for the permanent drop box due in part to their regular participation with the National Drug Take Back program, which is one of the largest collection points in the region.

Disposed drugs may be in or out of a container, but needles are not permitted. All items will be collected and destroyed by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The drop-off box is located in the lobby of the university police building on campus, 11935 Abercorn Street, Savannah. The Armstrong Police Department is open 24 hours a day, year-round and all drop-offs are confidential.

The program is open to the public.

For additional information on the drop box program, call the Armstrong Police Department at (912)-344-3333.
