Reverend Thurmond Tillman celebrates 31 years of service in ministry.
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
The First African Baptist Church in Savannah is showing appreciation for the work their pastor has done over the past 3 decades.
In recognition of Reverend Thurmond Tillmans 31 years of service in ministry, church leaders held a special worship experience Sunday morning at the church on Montgomery street.
Reverend Raphael Warnock of the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta served as guest minister.
Organizers say Pastor Tillman has blessed the Savannah community with his commitment to the church and its' people.
"He actually came to pastor here in 1982 and has offered continuous strong leadership," said First African Baptist Church Community Relations Director Atricia Roberts. "Not only here at our church but in the Savannah communIty for 31 years and we are extremely excited to honor him, to present him with our gifts and thanks for not only what he has done for us, but this community at large."
