SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
A wild scene at Effingham Parc Apartments in Rincon early Saturday morning ended with the suspect still on the loose.
The Effingham County Sheriff's Office, Rincon Police, and SCMPD SWAT team responded to a possible barricaded suspect at an apartment building at Effingham Parc Apartments around 9 a.m. Saturday.
After about two hours of surrounding the apartment building where witnesses placed the suspect, SWAT stormed into the apartment and discovered the suspect, Cori Hines, 27, of Savannah, had already left the building.
Police thought Hines may have still been in the Rincon area or on his way back to his home in Chatham County.
Hines was wanted by SCMPD for shooting his ex-girlfriend, Serina Speights, around 4 a.m. Saturday at her home in Oaks at Brandlewood Apartments. Police say the ex-girlfriend does not have life threatening injuries.
Hines turned himself in to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Southside Precinct detectives Sunday and is currently in the Chatham County Detention Center facing aggravated assault charges.
