SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
A Savannah man pleaded guilty to burglary charges and received 20
years in prison without the possibility of parole.
Richard Leon Chaffin Jr., 33, pleaded guilty to 11 counts of burglary
and was prosecuted under the Recidivist Clause – which means that criminals who
have three prior felonies must service the maximum sentence without parole,
according to the Chatham County District Attorney's Office.
Chaffin Jr. was responsible for 11 burglaries in 2012 in Savannah
and Chatham County. He had several arrests and charges in the past, including
burglary, theft by receiving stolen property, theft by taking and probation
violation.
