Atlanta police bust suspected marijuana grow house

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Atlanta police did some weed-whacking Monday afternoon inside a house in the 3200 block of Telford Terrace in southwest Atlanta.

"There were approximately four rooms that were set up, and the marijuana plants were divided up in those rooms according to size," said Officer John Chafee with the Atlanta Police Dept.

Investigators said officers responding to another call in the area Sunday smelled something suspicious. Investigators said the operation was sophisticated.

"They had a number of plants that were hung down in the basement to dry. They also had a large irrigation system that was set up for them," said Chafee.

Police said they found 250 marijuana plants worth about $500,000 on the street. Investigators said arrests are pending.
