COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Gov. Nikki Haley will resume a normal work schedule after spending the better part of two days with her mother in a Columbia area hospital.

Raj Randhawa was admitted to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital Monday night. The reason for her hospitalization has not been released.

A spokesperson for the governor said Wednesday that Randhawa is doing better and is out of intensive care.

"I'm happy to be able to say that Mrs. Randhawa is out of ICU and doing much better," said Rob Godfrey. "The governor, her father and their entire family are truly grateful for the outpouring of well wishes and support, her brothers and sister are also caring for their mother, and the governor will resume a normal work schedule on Thursday."

The governor canceled her public schedule on Monday and Tuesday.
