SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Traditionally, if St.
Patrick's Day falls on a Saturday it means green for area hotels. But not all
the hotels in the city are sold out.
That means those
wishing to still head to the Hostess City may just be able to score a hotel
room.
City Market is one of
the hot spots for the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Several hotels taking to social
media sites to get the message that they still have rooms open. The Savannah
Area Chamber and Visitors Bureau is also making sure that message gets out on
social networks. Visit Savannah say it is their responsibility to make sure the
word gets out.
"I certainly
think it's Visit Savannah's role, make it easy for people to come to the
community, and kind of communicate all the options," said William Hubbard,
CEO of the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce.
Savannah Area Chamber
of Commerce also said it's not unheard of for hotels not to be sold out by the
Wednesday before St. Patrick's Day.
"I don't think it's a concern. I think people
make their travel decisions a little later than used to years ago. We certainly have more hotels than we used to
have. The weather, as I mentioned, is a little uncertain until three to four
days out and now you know what's going to happen; we'll see them fill in; it'll
be a huge crowd like usual," he said.
