SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
America's Second Harvest is getting a big donation to help feed families in need.
On Wednesday, police cadets graduating from the training center in Garden City delivered 300 pounds of food. The food will go to the more than 49,000 Chatham County residents currently living in poverty.
Each graduating class choices an organization to do a community service project and this class decided to hold a food drive.
"They care about the community, obviously. They are going into a public service with their careers and they are very concerned with helping they people they will be helping but also making sure people in the community have food - which is the most basic thing you can ask for," said Mary Jane Crouch, America's Second Harvest executive director.
