Wednesday is the last evening drivers will be able to travel down on River Street before police close it down at 8 a.m. Thursday.
Some new businesses will experience their first St. Patrick's Day on the street. On the east end of River Street is Five and Dime Savannah, which opened about a month ago. They said the first half of this week has been great. They're not nervous at all for the influx of people.
"I think we're more excited than anything else; should be a fun time," said Alex Benoit of Five and Dime Savannah. "It's definitely interesting, get to see the vendors come in, locals come in, tourists come in, so it's a great place to be at.
The shop is cashing in right now with the sale of green hats with the beards attached.
