City to enforce rules for private portable toilets

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The city is providing 425 portable toilets for St. Patrick's Day festivities. They'll be located both inside and outside the festival zone.

But just like the last few years, those who want to bring their own in the back of a pickup can do so, according to the city. But there are rules.

Private portable toilets must remain on the pickup truck and the truck must be legally parked. If it's not, the truck will be towed and the Blue Bowl Co. will have to come and get its toilet. The city will not be held responsible.

"The problem with people setting up their private on public property is during the parade is you just can't service them. If they tip over, a city crew would have to service those private port a potties and obviously we can't have that," city spokesman Brett Bell.

The big requirement is the portable toilets have to be secured and stable.
