3rd ID soldier killed in Afghanistan

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

On Thursday, the Department of Defense announced the death of a 3rd Infantry Division soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Spc. David T. Proctor, 26, of Greensboro, NC, died on March 13 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. from the injuries that he sustained during a non-combat incident on March 3 in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. Proctor was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd ID.

Proctor joined the Army in August 2011 and arrived at his unit in November 2011. This was his first deployment.
