Deputies: Man attempted to abduct 14-year-old leaving school bus

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Deputies say someone tried to abduct a student as she got off the school bus in Richland County on Thursday.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Broad River Road and Hufstetler Drive.

Deputies say a 14-year old girl was walking home when a man approached her in a burgundy 2-door pickup. He asked the girl if she wanted a ride, and when she said no he got out and started chasing her.

The girl was able to make it home safely and call for help.

The suspect is described as a bald, heavy set, dark-skinned man in his early 50's.
