Police respond to situation Thursday in East Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

WTOC is working to get more information about a situation that occurred Thursday night that had police tape off an entire block in East Savannah.

A call came into the WTOC 24-hour newsroom around 11:30 p.m. Thursday from a man saying Savannah police were taping off part of his neighborhood at Capitol Street and Lawton Avenue.

A WTOC news crew arrived on scene to find the area was indeed taped off and there were forensics investigators there as well.

No official word has been released on what exactly took place at this time.

A man who repairs water towers collapsed more than 100 feet in the air above Cobbtown. Fire and rescue crews had to climb to the top of the tower and lower him to safety.
