A wreck left the
westbound lanes of Veterans Memorial Parkway shut down from Brannen Street to Fair
Road for three and a half hours overnight.
traveling westbound on overturned at about 3:30 a.m. onto its top. Crews worked
for hours to get the semi up and out of the ditch. They had to separate the
container, which was carrying heavy machine equipment parts - from the trailer
that was carrying it.
The driver of the semi was able to walk away from the crash and got into the ambulance on his own was taken to nearby East Georgia Medical Center to be checked out as a precaution for cuts and bruises he suffered during the crash. He is expected to be OK.
The westbound lanes reopened shortly before 7:30 a.m.
