SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

James Johns, a local Shriner, received the gift of a lifetime just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

Johns participates in the Savannah St. Patrick's Day Parade every year, and last year he was approached by someone from Hanger Prosthetics saying they would like to help him. On Thursday, he was delivered a new socket at no cost. The socket is complete with Notre Dame symbols and the Shriner emblem.

Johns told WTOC this is all possible because of Jeremy Counihan, a member of the St. Patrick's Day committee who serves as Johns' medical technician at Hanger.

"It's an awesome feeling," he said, and he's glad everyone can see the largest emblem on the front. He said his heart lies with the Shriners.

Johns is a part of the Caribbean Cruisers Unit.
