BURTON, SC (WTOC) -
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night.
Sheriff's deputies responded at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday to a
report of shots fired in the area of Milledge Village Road.
As deputies were searching the area, they received a report
that a gunshot victim had arrived at the Beaufort Memorial emergency room,
according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. A 35-year-old man was being treated there for
a gunshot wound to the arm.
The victim was uncooperative and provided only vague details
of the shooting, according to the BCSO. He told investigators that he knew the
identity of the shooter and that he had been shot in an exchange of gunfire in
the area of Milledge Village Road. He refused to provide any further details or
elaborate on a motive for the shooting, according to the BCSO.
Deputies found a vehicle in a ditch in the area of 66
Milledge Village Road that is believed to have been involved in the shooting.
The vehicle had several bullet holes in it and large amounts of blood in and
around it.
Investigators have identified a person of interest, but no arrests
have yet been made.
