Pedestrian struck by SUV in Bluffton

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

A driver was cited after a pedestrian was struck Monday morning at Goethe and May River roads.

Bluffton police responded at about 10:14 a.m. to the traffic incident involving a pedestrian and vehicle.

Police said a 2004 Nissan SUV driven by Stacey Dugger was stopped for traffic in the eastbound lane on May River Road. The pedestrian, identified as Thomascenna Grant, began walking across Goethe Road and was hit by the SUV when as it was turning, according to police.

Grant was walking within the crosswalk area. Grant was taken to Hilton Head Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Dugger was cited for failure to yield to pedestrian in crosswalk.
