SWAINSBORO, GA (WTOC) -
Police in Swainsboro are trying to figure out how a 37-year-old woman died Saturday and how she ended up in a vacant lot.
They said they have no apparent cause of death.
Police said the investigation started Saturday when some neighborhood children made a frightening discovery.
They were playing in a vacant lot when they discovered a body later identified as Jennifer Sutton, of Swainsboro.
Police Chief Randy Ellison said they are treating her death as a homicide and trying to determine how, where and when she died.
"She was seen by people in the wee hours that morning and seen in that neighborhood where she was found," Ellison said.
The chief said they're awaiting autopsy results to identify a cause of death.
