Beaufort to hold meetings on proposed Civic Master Plan

The public will have a chance get more details and share feedback about the Beaufort Civic Master Plan in a series of meetings. 

"In 2009, the city of Beaufort adopted Vision Beaufort, a comprehensive plan that articulated a vision for the growth and development of the city," according to the Civic Master Plan.

Some key areas of the plan include: sustainability, regionalism, natural infrastructure, economic development, access and mobility, urban form, resource efficiency, fiscal sustainability and growth.

As part of the master plan process, information gathering will take place through meetings, parcel-level surveys and reviewing previously completed plans, reports and studies.

A draft of the plan divides Beaufort into five sectors.

Public presentations are scheduled through April. The meetings will take place at City Hall in the Council Chambers unless another location is specified:


  • Presentation to Planning Commission - 5:30 p.m. April 3 at the Planning Conference Room
  • Sector 2 Workshop – 5:30 p.m. April 10 - West of Ribaut Road and between Boundary Street and Beaufort Memorial Hospital
  • Sector 3 Workshop – 5:30 p.m. April 11 - South of Allison Road  
  • Sector 4/5 Workshop - Boundary Street, Burton & Lady's Island

More information the master planning process and public involvement will be posted the city's website in coming weeks, according to the city of Beaufort.
